History has once again repeated itself as Jack Dorsey has stepped down from the CEO role at Twitter. Dorsey will remain on the board through 2022 but will be replaced as CEO by their own CTO Parag Agrawal. Dorsey had been at the helm through a number of recent innovations like the subscription service Twitter Blue and Twitter Spaces, but none of Twitter’s innovations have moved the needle when it came to the company’s bottom line. Twitter has been in revenue limbo behind other tech companies and it never fully lifted off in its monetization. Now, newer companies like TikTok are nipping at their heels. It has been a good year as twitter has increased their subscribers by 13%, and markets see the leadership change as potentially positive as trading was up on the news.
