Europe has definitely been ahead of the US when it comes to a variety of regulation practices but particularly those in tech, but the US is trying to catch up. A new Silicon Valley targeted regulation is in the pipeline in California and it is modeled after the U.K.’s Children Code. If confirmed into law the new legislation would better protect children’s data collection and privacy. It would also mandate protection services from other users and widdle down complicated privacy agreements. The bill would also remove many of the ‘nudges’ for children that push users into policies that share their data with tech companies more easily. Tech companies like Google are trying to make products that already cater to minors by limiting access to adult content. Even more, legislation is ready at the national level that will increase accountability tech companies face when it comes to minors.
