2020 was a drag on travel and weddings, and Away and Zola mirrored this decline. However, they are trying to turn around in the post covid environment with two new CMOs. Victoria Vaynberg is taking the CMO role at wedding platform Zola after leaving media company Resy. Meanwhile Melissa Weiss will be the lead of marketing at the travel accessory company Away. Zola is ready to ramp up marketing in the wake of an expected 2.5 million new weddings in 2022. Away is also expecting to ramp up sales in 2022 after dropping nearly 90% at the beginning of the pandemic. Earlier this year Zola and Away’s CMOs left for Hims & Hers and Gucci respectively.
